Stage 4 - Reflect

This final stage of the Game Design Project Packs is the only one that isn't group work. Each student should work through it on his or her own.

In it, the student will complete a Game Design Reflection Sheet (included in the Project Pack resources) that asks questions about these three areas:
  • The game design project itself
  • How the topic of the game the student worked on incorporated the course content
  • What the student thinks about game design
The second point above is probably the most essential for most classes. That's where a student has to explain how the game design decisions fit with the course content. It requires him or her to revisit those discussions that took place in the groups during planning in the Make Stage. Having each student do this individually in this final stage adds some accountability and it gives you, as the teacher, insight into what the students actually learned.

The reflection sheet won't take students long to complete. You can make it even shorter by eliminating some or all of the questions that focus only on game design.

If any students do indicate in their reflections that they want to work on their game beyond the time you've allowed in class, direct them to the For Students page of this site. There they'll find many resources for creating a polished final product.
